Mr Perfect, with Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, wins his match.

On Face to Face, host “Mean” Gene Okerlund has Hulk Hogan (from a studio in Venice Beach, California) and WWF World Champion “Macho Man” Randy Savage, with Miss Elizabeth (from a studio in Sarasota, Florida), back on the segment. “Mean” Gene: ‘Well this is a departure for Face to Face – I’m interviewing, via satellite, two friends instead of enemies! At least, I hope so. It’s the Mega-Powers, Hulk Hogan and the WWF World Champion, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, who again won an historic Tournament to solidify his position in the World Wrestling Federation history books, by coming out on top at the Survivor Series as the Sole Survivor. That has sent a message to all comers: you’re the man to beat, Mach’. But I have to address speculation that you didn’t seem completely content at being the Sole Survivor on the night of Survivor Series. Randy – your thoughts?’ Macho: ‘”Mean” Gene, since we’re the Mega-Powers there are always those who want to stir things up. It happens all the time, whether it be talk about me not being there for Hulk Hogan, or him not being there for me, or us inevitably having to face each other. I’ve got nothing to say about the Survivor Series, other than that we were united.’ Hogan: ‘That’s right, brother! I feel sorry for all these people who sit around reading into things, man. They don’t see us on the road talking, they don’t see us in the gym clanging and banging. They don’t know what goes on with us. We’re still going strong, man. And I sleep well knowing that it’s you, and not someone like “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, or Andre the Giant, as the WWF World Champion. We’re on the same page. And some might think we’d make good enemies, but we make better friends! Because we are the Mega-Powers and we stop the corrupt from dominating the ranks of the World Wrestling Federation, brother!’ “Mean” Gene: ‘Well, gentlemen, you certainly seem to have responded to your critics with your performances in the Tournament at the Survivor Series.’ Miss Elizabeth: ‘I told everyone that there was nothing wrong with the Mega-Powers, “Mean” Gene. I told you, and I told that dastardly Brother Love.’ “Mean” Gene: ‘Well now wait a moment! Please don’t put me in the same category as him! He’s not even a paid staffer here in the broadcasting department.’ Elizabeth: ‘I know, “Mean” Gene. But he tried to stir things up. And yet whenever anyone does that, we just come out stronger.’ Okerlund: ‘But now you’ve proven you’re still united, is there some unfinished business to attend to – where Brother Love, Slick, and his men are concerned?’ Hulk Hogan: ‘Let me tell you something, “Mean” Gene: You don’t know how much it hurt me to have to sit at home with a concussion while my tag team partner here was getting attacked by the One Man Gang. I wanted to be there for my partner, dude. Well, I’m gonna make up for lost time! I’m gonna get my hands on the One Man Gang, and give him a beating!’ “Macho Man” Randy Savage: ‘Ooh yea, well I’m gonna match you there, partner! I’m gonna finally get my hands on the Big Boss Man! Because he ran away before I could catch him, but next time I’ll have him in the ring, and we’ll show Slick, and the whole world, that the Mega-Powers are stronger than ever! Dig it?’

Dino Bravo, with “Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart, attacks Hercules after his match!

On Update with Sean Mooney, “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase blames his loss in the Finals of the Tournament on his distraction from Hulk Hogan’s attack on Virgil at ringside. Mooney also looks at the Powers of Pain’s alliance with Master Fuji. Demolition say Fuji just lost himself some champions, and some gold, and so right away went and settled for second best. They also claim it was a long time coming, as Fuji had been talking to “Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart about selling their contracts to him! They say they’ll humiliate the treacherous Fuji and defeat the Powers of Pain.

Jake “The Snake” Roberts defeats the Red Rooster, with Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, by pinfall after countering a Chicken-wing attempt with the DDT. However, again at the request of Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, Andre the Giant goes to the ring to confront Jake the Snake! Roberts grabs his snake-sack and unleashes Damien, which terrifies Andre, who leaves in a hurry! Is the Giant afraid of snakes?

Brother Love: ‘I love you! And I know you loved the Survivor Series, didn’t you? But you may have noticed something wrong with the Survivor Series. It did not at all feature my guest at this time. He is “Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart!’ Hart walks onto the set, with Dino Bravo. Brother Love: ‘Brother Jimmy, you must be disappointed that you weren’t able to be at Survivor Series.’ Hart: ‘I am disappointed, Brother Love. None of my men were able to qualify for the Tournament, and President Jack Tunney didn’t book them anywhere else on the show. It’s a disgrace, daddy! But I ought to remind you that Dino Bravo overpowered Hercules in a “test of strength” during their match! And that’s why Dino Bravo attacked him – it’s an insult to have an overpowered, out-done, discredited man in the Tourney when my Canadian Strongman, Dino Bravo, was sat on the sidelines watching! Well maybe now Hercules will remember who his superior really is. Maybe he’ll remember why he entered that Tournament nothing but a broken man! Because Dino Bravo is bigger than him, he’s better than him, and he sure as heck is stronger than him! And he’ll prove it!’

The WWF Women’s Champion, The Fabulous Moolah, tells Vince McMahon and Lord Alfred Hayes that she is back on top, enjoying all the privileges that being a champion affords, and she will retain her status whatever it takes. ‘Win at all costs!’ she says.

WWF World Champion “Macho Man” Randy Savage, with Miss Elizabeth, defeats Big Boss Man, with Slick, by pinfall to retain his title after the Spider Strike. One Man Gang tries to attack, but Hulk Hogan runs in! The Mega-Powers send them all fleeing, and stand victorious, as the show ends!

Brother Love: ‘I love you! Welcome, brothers and sisters, to the greatest segment on World Wrestling Federation programming! One paid for thanks to the kind and generous donations of “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, the Million Dollar Champion himself! But there is another kind of champion, one who is yet to be truly tested, and he is the WWF Intercontinental Champion, Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake!’ Bruti’ enters, snapping his shears with the belt around his waist. ‘Well well well, brother Bruti, you are still wearing that belt, but how can you compare it to one encrusted with the finest diamonds and gold?’ Bruti: ‘Because I beat someone for this belt, Brother Love! I beat the Honky Tonk Man, and I beat him twice! Once by disqualification, at WrestleMania, but then I decisively defeated him at SummerSlam, by submission. That’s why I’m a true champion. And I’ve successfully defended it since then. I don’t recall “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase beating anyone for his belt. At the Survivor Series, I told the whole world I was ready to face anyone, no matter who won that Tournament to be declared Sole Survivor! I knew the Sole Survivor would use that title as a way to leapfrog all contenders and choose the champion they’d want to face. I knew that if WWF World Champion “Macho Man” Randy Savage didn’t make it to the end, then the Sole Survivor himself, whoever he might be, would stake their claim as number one contender to that belt, or maybe my own belt right here. But DiBiase didn’t do that. He went in there with his own Million Dollar Championship belt, and he aimed to humiliate not just the WWF World Champion by beating him, but humiliate the entire World Wrestling Federation if the so-called Million Dollar Champion beat the WWF World Champion! Well, he didn’t. Good triumphed, Brother Love! But it’s not over yet. Because DiBiase could have mounted a challenge for this WWF Intercontinental Championship, the title he couldn’t buy, but he didn’t have any plans to. But the fact is, I’m a true champion, just like “Macho Man” Randy Savage. And I’m going to keep defending it, keep defeating all challengers, and keep cutting and strutting through the World Wrestling Federation as a cut above the rest!’ Brother Love: ‘Now just wait a moment, brother Beefcake! You may have defended that title, but you haven’t had a high profile win. WWF President Jack Tunney must be going easy on you by not booking you at the Survivor Series!’ Bruti’: ‘Go easy on the WWF Intercontinental Champion, Brother Love? The qualifying brackets were drawn up well in advance, and since then, need I remind you yet again that I beat the Honky Tonk Man for this belt? You talk as though I didn’t want to face challengers, but I do. I saw you here last week, complaining that “Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart didn’t have any of his wrestlers at Survivor Series, as though it was a disservice to them! Well believe me, Brother Love, I’m as eager, if not more eager, than any of Hart’s men, to compete here in the World Wrestling Federation! Survivor Series may not be the opportunity to defend my belt, and maybe even the Royal Rumble won’t be, but I’ll defend it every single night of the week if I have to! And speaking of the Royal Rumble, I really hope that if I’m not defending this WWF Intercontinental Championship, that I’m in the Battle Royal itself! Because I’d love to become King of the Ring, and take more legitimate gold that even your beloved “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase couldn’t buy! And if he’s in the Battle Royal, I’ll go through him to get to it! An emperor without clothes – and hair!’

On Face to Face, with “Mean” Gene Okerlund, Master Fuji and the Powers of Pain (from a studio in Honolulu, HI) tell WWF Tag Team Champions Demolition (from a studio in Brownsville, PA) that they will soon have the gold that they currently hold.

The Brain Busters, with Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, defeat the Hart Foundation by pinfall when Arn Anderson pins Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart.

Sean Mooney hosts Update. ‘We’re approaching the Royal Rumble, on Sunday, January 15th, at the Miami Arena in Florida! It’s the World Wrestling Federation’s winter-time spectacular, coming to you live only on Pay-Per-View! Of course, the main event will be yet another contest inspired by WrestleMania IV – the Battle Royal, currently set to feature the main event himself, WWF World Champion “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, the Big Boss Man, One Man Gang, Andre the Giant, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, and WWF Intercontinental Champion Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake! More of the twenty-five participants will be announced in the coming weeks, but already the Royal Rumble looks unmissable!’

As WWF Intercontinental Champion Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake watches on at one point, Hulk Hogan, with Miss Elizabeth, defeats “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, with Virgil, by pinfall after Running Wild, then says he will end his feud with Andre the Giant, ‘one way or another.’

Brother Love: ‘I love you! And I know you all love me! Young and old alike. But sometimes, youth doesn’t match up to experience. And my guests at this time are considered very young and very hungry. They are Jim Powers and Paul Roma, the Young Stallions!’ The Young Stallions walk onto the set. Brother Love: ‘Young Stallions, you certainly are young. Do you really think you can be successful here in the World Wrestling Federation?’ Paul Roma: ‘Brother Love, you’re looking at two thoroughbreds right here. We might be young, but because we’ve got youth on our side, we will be successful. And we have our futures ahead of us.’ Brother Love: ‘But you don’t have someone like the Italian Stallion in your corner to watch your back any more. It’s not going to be easy in the cut-throat world of the WWF.’ Jim Powers: ‘Brother Love, you don’t understand. We’re not like a lot of these other tag teams who are seconded by someone to do their dirty work for them. I know I speak for my partner here when I say we’ll never do that again.’ Brother Love: ‘And yet there you were this week, running to the aid of Hercules! Why?’ Paul Roma: ‘We have an ongoing issue with the Fabulous Rougeaus – and “Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart, and it’s about more than a theme song. We don’t like them, and we’re not gonna let them get away with the stuff they do. Hercules is a good man, Brother Love. He’s been victimised, and we won’t stand for it. Just like my partner suggested, we have a sense of injustice here in the World Wrestling Federation, and we won’t tolerate that kind of stuff.’ Brother Love: ‘And yet you still haven’t explained to me and my viewers exactly how you expect to be successful! Helping others doesn’t get you success.’ Jim Powers: ‘We’ve already enjoyed some success. But we want more. We want the WWF Tag Team Championship. We’re back into contention now, since we-’ The Brain Busters, Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard, emerge, with Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, who interrupts the two. ‘You two humanoids think you have the right to talk of the WWF Tag Team Championship, when my Brain Busters have already proven themselves, got into contention, have those Fuji-hating Demos in mind, but yet to even get their crack at the belts? I’ve never seen the tag team division so competitive. But if you think youth is better than experience, you’re wrong. And you’ll be proven wrong! Because the Brain Busters have spent years mastering their craft. They use their brains just like me. Now they’re in the World Wrestling Federation. And they, not you, will become number one contenders to the WWF Tag Team Championship! So I don’t care how youthful you are – you need to be put out to pasture, lame-o’s!’ Pushing and shoving ensues, but officials quickly separate them all.

Sean Mooney hosts Update. ‘We’re approaching the Royal Rumble, on Sunday, January 15th, at the Miami Arena! It’s the World Wrestling Federation’s winter-time spectacular, coming to you live only on Pay-Per-View! Following the popularity of the unique undercard that opened the Survivor Series, WWF President Jack Tunney has signed another, this time opening the Royal Rumble! It will feature The Young Stallions, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, and Hercules, collectively known as The Chain, facing The Million Dollar Link, of course led by “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase and including the Brain Busters, as well as what the Millionaire himself calls “the missing link.” Exactly whom he’s referring to, nobody yet knows. But it seems his money has yet again afforded him certain privileges, as his opponents don’t yet know the identity of that fourth member. In the meantime, more participants have been announced for the Battle Royal! WWF Intercontinental Champion Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, the Ultimate Warrior, Bad News Brown, Bret “Hit Man” Hart, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, the Honky Tonk Man, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, and the Red Rooster will all be taking part!’

Brother Love: ‘I love you! And this certainly is a time for love, brothers and sisters. It’s certainly time for generosity. And that brings me to my guest at this time, the Million Dollar Champion, the “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase!’ The Millionaire walks onto the set, with Virgil. Brother Love: ‘Mister DiBiase, thank you for your donations to The Brother Love Show! Thanks to you, we can continue through the next year! My resolution will be to keep bringing the gospel truth to these people each and every week, throughout 1989! And in return for your great gift, you are welcome here whenever you like.’ DiBiase: ‘Exactly, Brother Love. You see, some people appreciate my money. And those who don’t, soon wish they had. Take Hercules, for example. I bought him, signed, sealed, and delivered to me by Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, but he refused to work as my tool of destruction. Well, I eliminated him from the Tournament at the Survivor Series! And yet he almost hit me with that chain of his. Now he has the Young Stallions with him, and “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan. Well, need I remind these nickel and dime, penny-pinching peons that “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan fought Hercules at SummerSlam? So what kind of a team is that? My team-mates will be loyal, not least because I have promised them many financial rewards. But the Brain Busters are an excellent choice, especially as Bobby “The Brain” Heenan has assured me that they are the greatest tag team in this business today! Something possible only because Big John Studd blew his opportunity to team up with Andre the Giant as my Twin Towers! It was all planned. But instead, I got myself another team. And while Andre the Giant is busy winning the Battle Royal at the Royal Rumble, I’ll be having my hand raised in victory as the Million Dollar Champion, leader of the best four-man team that money can buy! And money, my friend, is the ties that bind! My Million Dollar Link is unbreakable.’ Brother Love: ‘But Mister DiBiase, what is the identity of your fourth man? You’ve referred to him as your missing link. Is he the Missing Link himself? That crazed man who terrorised the World Wrestling Federation all those years?’ DiBiase (amused): ‘I’m afraid not, Brother Love. Such a choice would be far too erratic. No, what we need is calculated, ruthless aggression. What my Million Dollar Link will offer is brains as well as brawn. You already know who the brains are. Now you’ll soon see who the brawn is. But rest assured, our opponents will be humiliated!’ Brother Love: ‘And what about the WWF Intercontinental Champion, Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake? He has made some disparaging remarks about you and that beautiful Million Dollar Championship belt of yours.’ DiBiase: ‘Jealousy, Brother Love, that’s all it is. He gets into my business, and he’ll pay for it, so he’d better consider himself lucky that I’m not even in that unprecedented 25-man Battle Royal at the Royal Rumble! Because I’d humiliate him, and he’d be lying on his back, looking up at the ring lights, and seeing me rightly stood over and above him, the Million Dollar Champion. That’s what he can’t stand. I didn’t settle for anything less than the best. That’s why I have this title belt. And I am the best. The only way he’s ever going to get a chance to grab hold of gold anything like this is by winning that Battle Royal and becoming the official King of the Ring! But he’s got to go against 24 other men, while I have 24 carat gold right here around my waist. So he can talk all he likes. Money talks, and talks much better. And so long as he ducks and dodges me, he’ll still have his health. I am the Million Dollar Champion! I am better than the WWF Intercontinental Champion, and the WWF World Champion! I have the gold, I have the money, I have the power! Mwahahahaha!’
